National funding

The team of the German BMBF project DaNa4.0 is addressing the question of whether new, advanced materials including nanomaterials, can be harmful to humans and the environment and how humans and the environment come into contact with these materials.
The Cluster of Excellence is a collaboration of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and Heidelberg University (Uni HD). It pursues an interdisciplinary approach through conjunction of natural, engineering, and social sciences. 3DMM2O establishes scalable digital 3D Additive Manufacturing transcending from the molecular to the macroscopic scale.
The Collaborative Research Centre High Performance Compact Magnetic Resonance – HyPERiON aims to challenge conventional concepts along the entire MR signal processing chain in order to improve the sensitivity, resilience and applicability of the method in equal measure.
In the Digi-HyPro project, the interaction of electrolyser, fuel cell, gas grid and energy consumer will be analyzed and optimized by comprehensive system simulations.
The GrowBot objective is to develop low-mass and low-volume robots capable of anchoring themselves, negotiating voids, and more generally climbing, where current climbing robots based on wheels, legs, or rails would get stuck or fall.
The aim of this projects is to demonstrate a low-cost hybrid pressurized solid-state hydrogen storage functional model for future application in passenger vehicles.
Light metal hydride-polymer composites - hydrogen storage below 100 °C - Subproject: Hydrides and composite systems
The focus of this project is to produce storage materials for green hydrogen and to strengthen the New Zealand-German research partnership for green hydrogen.
The platform makes all necessary information on the condition of the material, including production and application-related changes available via a uniform, machine-readable description
The Transregional CRC „Cooperative Effects in Homo- and Heterometallic Complexes (3MET)“ addresses the fundamental relationships connecting interactions between atomic metal centers and resulting molecular properties.

International funding

Magnetic materials at the nanoscale unlock unique phenomena with applications in data storage, sensing, spintronics, and biomedicine. The EU-funded 3D MAGiC project advances 3D magnetic solitons (MSs) through theoretical and experimental research, exploring their nucleation, stability, dynamics, and transport properties.
Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) delivers unmatched precision and resolution. The EU-funded IMPRESS project advances TEM by developing a standardised, cartridge-based platform with unified interfaces and data formats. It enables flexible experiments, tool co-development, and an open innovation hub for TEM.
The EU-funded NANOSTACKS project has found a solution to overcome the difficulty of storing this energy in very large quantities and in high energy density. The solution is a novel screening method to find efficient fuel cells that rely on cost-efficient materials.
The EU-funded ReMade-at-ARI project supports the circular economy by driving the development of highly recyclable, functional materials. Serving as a central hub, it provides access to dozens of European analytical infrastructures, addressing resource scarcity and advancing sustainable material solutions.
The EU-funded RIANA project advances sustainability in nanoscience and nanotechnology by uniting seven European networks for seamless access to 69 state-of-the-art research infrastructures. With expert support, RIANA fosters innovation, adapts to scientific trends, and shapes the future with a four-year roadmap.
